Internationale Vereniging voor Asbestslachtoffers
The International Ban Asbestos Secretariat (IBAS) is a newly formed, independent body which is dedicated to the eradication world-wide of the continuing use of asbestos and the minimisation of dangers from asbestos products already within society. Although IBAS works closely with the Ban Asbestos Network and national groups such as ANDEVA which have been campaigning on asbestos issues for years, there are no organisational or financial links to these groups.

Haar doel: de huidige problematiek van de asbestslachtoffers in België. Het aantal asbestslachtoffers in België is ruim onderschat en zal nog toenemen de komende twintig jaar. De groei zal zowel professionele slachtoffers als andere slachtoffers betreffen. Veel slachtoffers zwijgen, of zijn zich niet bewust van de oorzaak van hun ziekte. Geconfronteerd met deze toestand, en met het stilzwijgen omtrent de asbestschadeproblematiek in België, zijn wij van mening dat een vereniging voor de verdediging van de asbestslachtoffers diende opgericht te worden. De vereniging streeft ernaar de ernst en de impact van asbestgerelateerde aandoeningen te doen erkennen en ijvert voor een correcte afhandeling van alle asbestschadegevallen.
